Meet the Ward 3 election hopefuls at Lambton forum this Wednesday

Unsure about how you will vote in the upcoming local council election? 

Put your questions to those who are seeking your vote at a ‘Meet the Candidates for Ward 3’ forum this Wednesday 17 November at Club Lambton (formerly Lambton Bowling Club), Karoola Rd, pictured above.

Hosted by Lambton Residents Group, the forum is the ideal opportunity to meet and speak with each of the candidates for the council election for Ward 3.

Ward 3 comprises a number suburbs including Lambton, New Lambton, New Lambton Heights, North Lambton, Hamilton North where The Local is delivered to. It also includes Birmingham Gardens, Georgetown, Jesmond, Waratah, and Waratah West as well as parts of Broadmeadow, Elermore Vale, Kotara, Rankin Park and Wallsend. 

All interested local residents and business people from Ward 3 and the wider LGA are invited to attend. 

Entry is free and the event will run from 5.30 until 7pm. Please try to be at the club by 5.15pm to allow the event to run to schedule. 

Each of the lead candidates for the Ward 3 election have been invited to participate in the forum which will be facilitated by the Rector of St John Anglican Church Lambton and Secretary of Lambton Residents Group, Rev’d Kate Heath. 

The lead candidates for the six groups and parties vying for election in Ward 3 are, in ballot paper order, Katrina Wark (Liberal), Nuatali Nelmes (Labor), Mark Brooker (Independent), Dave Wild (Newcastle Independents), Darren Brollo (Animal Justice Party) and Sinead Francis-Coan (Greens)

“This will be the third time that Lambton Residents Group has held a Meet the Candidates forum, having done so in the 2015 by-election and then the 2017 council elections.” Rev’d Heath told The Local

“We’ve all been reminded of how vital our immediate local community and spaces are during this time. This event gives us the chance to understand the priorities of those who want to represent us and build relationships with those we will work most closely with as residents of Ward 3”. She added.

Pre-poll voting will begin on Monday 22 November and continue until Friday 3 December. Election Day is Saturday 4 December. For full details of voting booths and early voting options go to
